AI usability testing tools compared (2026)
The tools that use AI to find usability problems split into three groups: AI personas that use your product, AI participants that answer research questions, and platforms for testing with real people that have added AI. Here is what each does and what it costs, including Meerkat, which we make.
What this page says about other products comes from their own websites, checked 17 September 2026. Products change: if something here is out of date, write to hello@runmeerkat.com and we will fix it.
AI personas that use your product
These put AI agents in front of the interface itself. They are the closest thing to a usability test without participants, and the quickest way to find where a flow breaks.
| Tool | What you test | Who tests it | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meerkat | Live websites and web apps, including flows behind a login you sign in to first | AI personas | Free (10,000 credits to start, 3,000 a month); Pro $49 a month |
| Swarm | URLs and screenshots; lists iOS and Android testing | AI personas | Free for 5 test runs in total; Startup $150 a month |
| CanaryUsers | Deployed web apps (preview, staging or production) | AI personas | Free for 100 credits a month; paid from $9 a month |
| Uxia | Figma prototypes, images or screen recordings of a flow, and live websites | AI personas | One free AI user test; then a custom plan |
Meerkat
AI personas try a task on your live site or staging in a real browser; a reviewer checks each step against the screenshots and the report ranks problems with fixes.
Swarm
AI personas run through your product from a URL or a screenshot, used in the browser, from a terminal, or as an MCP server in coding tools. Source: www.useswarm.co.
CanaryUsers
AI users drive a real browser through a deployed web app and can run on every push, posting a report as a pull request comment. Source: www.canaryusers.ai.
Uxia
AI testers work through a prototype or product and report transcripts of what they did and thought, with SUS and SUPR-Q scores. Source: www.uxia.app.
How they differ: Meerkat is built around a report you can act on (problems ranked, evidence and a fix for each, a replay of every run) and around remembering findings across releases. Swarm and CanaryUsers lean towards developer workflows (terminal, MCP, pull requests). Uxia also tests prototypes before anything is built.
AI research participants, and platforms for real people
These are not the same kind of tool, but they come up in the same searches.
| Tool | What you test | Who tests it | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Synthetic Users | Concepts and messaging, shown as images, video or a website | AI interview participants | From $12,500 a year |
| Loop11 | Websites and prototypes | Human participants, plus AI agents as visitors | From $199 a month, with a 14-day free trial |
| UserTesting | Websites, prototypes, mobile apps and concepts | Real participants | Not published; sales-led |
| Maze | Prototypes, live websites and mobile | Real participants | See their pricing page |
Synthetic Users
AI participants answer research interviews, with summaries, themes and transcripts. Research about a product rather than use of it. Source: www.syntheticusers.com/pricing.
Loop11
A usability testing platform for people, with an AI browser agents feature that shows how AI agents, rather than humans, get on with your site. Source: www.loop11.com/features/ai-browser-agents/.
UserTesting
Enterprise research with real participants recorded on video, with AI summaries of sessions. Source: www.usertesting.com/platform/AI.
Maze
A research platform for unmoderated tests, interviews and surveys with real participants, with AI moderation and analysis. Source: maze.co/platform/.
How to choose
- You have a working flow and want to know where people get stuck before release: an AI persona tool. See testing onboarding and testing checkout.
- You only have designs: a tool that tests prototypes, or a real-participant platform.
- You want to hear why customers decide what they decide: research with real people. No AI tool replaces that; see where synthetic testing stops.
- You want tests to run on every deploy: a tool with CI or pull request integration.

Try it on your own product
Sign up free and you get 10,000 credits, plus 3,000 more every month. A persona run usually uses about 1,000. Or read an example report first: it is a real, unedited run of Meerkat against its own website.
